Alena Lunova joins newly created Advisory Council at Commissioner for Human Rights
On November 21, Advisory Council was established at the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Council membership includes representatives of leading non-governmental human rights organizations who will provide expert and advisory support to the Ombudsman of Ukraine to improve the protection of citizenship and human rights and freedoms, promote the implementation of civil society initiatives to prevent violations of human rights and freedoms and restore them, as well as put forward proposals to enhance the legislation of Ukraine in the areas of protection of human rights and freedoms.
The representatives of such organizations as Donbas SOS, Human Rights Platform, Media Initiative for Human Rights, Charity organization “100% Life”, Crimean Human Rights Group, and others became Council members. Alena Lunova, advocacy director at Human Rights Centre ZMINA, also joined the Council.
As the Ombudsman’s Office notes, the Advisory Council will hold regular and special meetings and create permanent and temporary working groups.
