Event within the framework of the URC2025 in Rome: “Ukraine and Italy. Why does Crimea unite us?”
On July 9, Rome (Italy) will host the event “Ukraine and Italy. Why does Crimea unite us?” to discuss the current situation in the occupied Crimea, as well as the challenges caused by the ongoing occupation, in particular in the area of human rights violations. It will take place within the framework of the fourth Ukraine Recovery Conference.

The speakers will share the story of Russia’s occupation of Crimea, shedding light on the profound consequences it has triggered — from systemic persecution to unlawful imprisonment. They will also highlight the rich and complex history of the Crimean Peninsula, helping to raise broader public awareness. An equally significant focus of the event will be on recognizing Crimea as a culturally diverse region, shaped in part by historical contributions from Italian communities to its ethnic mosaic.
