ZMINA offers support to activists and journalists affected by Russian aggression

ZMINA Human Rights Centre provides urgent support to civil society representatives who fell victims to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Human rights defenders, civil society activists, journalists, volunteers, and local government officials who were affected by Russian aggression, found themselves in the combat zone, in the occupied localities, were injured, and/or had to evacuate to other regions of Ukraine are entitled to assistance.

In particular, the expenses in the following categories may be covered:

  • travel expenses (gasoline, tickets)
  • medicines and medical services
  • food and household products
  • rent and utilities
  • basic clothing, bed linen, etc.
  • communication (telephone and Internet)
  • equipment to continue to engage in professional activities (e.g., voice recorded, laptop, camera, etc. instead of lost/damaged equipment) – under a separate arrangement
  • other (on request – under a separate arrangement)

The urgent assistance to civil society representatives who fell victims to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine is provided within the project “Increasing the Role and Protection of Human Rights Defenders in Ukraine” implemented by the ZMINA Human Rights Centre in partnership with the Netherlands Helsinki Committee with the financial support of the European Union. The project lasts from 2019 to June 2022.
