The press conference “Persecution and torture of civilians as Russia’s planned terror: Analysis by human rights defenders” will be held at the Ukraine Media Center – Ukrinform news agency, Hall 1 (Kyiv, 8/16 Khmelnytskoho Str., 1st floor), on Wednesday, January 17, at 11:00 (CET).
During the event, the Human Rights Centre ZMINA will present two analytical reports on the planned policy of arbitrary detention, torture and ill-treatment that Russia continues to commit against Ukrainians under occupation.
The analysis is based on the testimony of dozens of victims from Kherson, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions. In addition, the crimes that the representatives of the Russian Federation committed against those illegally detained in the Kupyansk district police department during the occupation of the town will be touched upon. A representative of the National Police will report on the progress of the investigation in the relevant proceedings.
What indicates the same and planned practice of persecution in all occupied territories? What methods does Russia use to suppress resistance? How are the Russians severing the social ties of Ukrainians under the occupation and what consequences will this have after de-occupation?
