Iryna Ivanchenko was born in the now front-line town of Kurakhove in Donetsk region. She received a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the Zaporizhzhia National University and a master’s degree in sociology at the ZNU. Iryna defended a bachelor’s thesis entitled “Principles of Tolerance in Ukrainian Radio: Gender aspect”.

Iryna Ivanchenkowon the Gender Zed LGBT School Tolerance Journalism Competition in 2017. For several years in a row she has taken part in Kyiv Prides, human rights flash mobs in Zaporizhzhia, feminist actions, etc.

Iryna has experience in local self-governance as she worked as a communications manager in Shyrokivska united territorial community in Zaporizhzhia region, promoted the ideas of decentralization, transparency and openness of government.

In her spare time Iryna enjoys cooking, listening to DakhaBrakha and studying psychology
